Industry Loss - Richard Wilson, Sr....."The Prince of Pine"2010-09-01

Wilson, Richard Stanley, Sr., of West Yarmouth, Massachusetts, died unexpectedly at his home on August 14, 2010 at the age of 73.   Beloved husband of the late Joan Louise (Bushold) Wilson and devoted and loving father of Kimberly J. and her husband Rick Raff of Bedford, NH,  Richard S. and his wife Dianna Wilson, Jr., of Glastonbury, Ct., and Rachel A.  Wilson of Danvers and her significant other, John Delande, and loving grandfather to Alan, Erica, Veronika, Richard III, and Christopher.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Richard was born and raised in Methuen, Massachusetts where he graduated as president of his class from Tenney High.   Following his graduation from Clark University he served in the Air Force from 1959-1963 and was activated during Bay of Pigs.  Following discharge from the service, Dick a.k.a. “The Prince of Pine”, began his career in the lumber industry, a career he truly enjoyed.   He was a member of NELMA – acting as chairman of the Association’s Convention Committee for many years - and the Hoo Hoo International (a fraternal order of the lumber industry.)  Dick was also a proud member of the Mason’s, serving as Worshipful Master.

Dick was an active member of each community he resided in.  In Ossipee, New Hampshire he was a member of the Chamber of Commerce.  On the Cape, he drove for Meals-on-Wheels, volunteered at the Food Pantry and drove the homeless to Church on Sundays.   Dick was also an active parishioner of St. David’s Episcopal Church.

Dick was a friend to all who met him and a mentor to many.  All will sorely miss him.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, August 28, at 11:00 at St. David’s Episcopal Church, S. Yarmouth, Massachusetts.  Burial and reception followed  the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. David’s Episcopal Church, 205 Old Main Street, S. Yarmouth, MA 02665.

Eastern White Pine VS. Radiata Pine. Learn about these two species in a side by side comparison. Who will be victorious?

Founded in 1933, the Northeastern Lumber Manufacturer's Association (NELMA) is one of seven lumber rules writing agencies in the U.S. accredited by the American Lumber Standard Committee (ALSC) to write grade rules that are certified as conforming to the American Softwood Lumber Standard PS20.  NELMA is the official author and administrator of the grading rules for Eastern White Pine, in particular.

In addition to the quality control inspection audits we conduct at lumber manufacturers to ensure that on-grade Eastern White Pine products are meeting the needs of consumers, NELMA develops and distributes an array of technical information and unique promotional materials via our member-driven marketing program.  We encourage you to browse through the pages of this website and discover why Eastern White Pine is the very best choice when wood is considered, both environmentally sustainable and application versatile.
