In a recent announcement by Lee Freeman, President and CEO of the Temperate Forest Foundation, the organization officially closed on April 30, 2010 as a result of the fiscal challenges brought about by the current recession. Lee states in the announcement, "The good news is the Executive Board approved the implementation of a legacy program that provides for a strategic succession plan for programs and services formally provided by the Foundation. Forestry tours, web-based content, and other educational products will continue to be available through other organizations. We are working with our partners to ensure a smooth transition and provide assistance with infrastructure development and other types of support. Information on Teacher Forestry Tours, educational videos, and Eco-Link publications can be found at www.forestinfo.org. The foundation extends its gratitude and appreciation for the industry support provided over the years and hopes that environmental educational outreach with continue with our new partners." | |

Founded in 1933, the Northeastern Lumber Manufacturer's Association (NELMA) is one of seven lumber rules writing agencies in the U.S. accredited by the American Lumber Standard Committee (ALSC) to write grade rules that are certified as conforming to the American Softwood Lumber Standard PS20.
