

| Lumber Shipments from NELMA Mills Down 17% for 2009 | 2010-03-02 |
Based on preliminary year-end data for 2009, a total of 305.4 million board feet of Dimension Lumber, primarily Spruce-Pine-Fir, and 296.6 million board feet of Eastern White Pine was shipped during the 12 months of the year. Both totals are down when compared with the same 12-month period of 2008, with shipments of Dimension Lumber significantly off of 2008's figure by some 24%. However, Dimension shipment rebounded the last 4 months of the year with totals exceeding the previous year's same months led by a 51% improvement in December. Eastern White Pine shipments fared better when compared with 2008, with the year-end total down only 9%. Shipments during the last 6 months of 2009 were mostly at or above the same period of 2008. Shipments of all lumber from NELMA lumber manufacturing members in 2009 stood at 601.9 million board feet, 17% below the 727.9 million board feet shipped in 2008.
