(Source: Dovetail News - January 2010)

A short environmental quiz, originally developed at the University of Minnesota in 1991, has been found to be extremely useful in stimulating discussion about forest and environmental trends.   Focusing on topics from world and U.S. population to raw material consumption trends, forest growth and harvest, and paper recycling, the quiz actively engages participants to gain a better understanding of forests and forestry in today's society.   Over 10,000 general audiences of adults, forest industry employees, college and high school students, boy scouts,  and even community and legislative leaders have taken the quiz over the past 18 years.

Now available on-line as an interactive tool, the quiz is easier than ever to use.  The 2010 quiz incorporates updated questions with the most current data.  Take a moment to complete the short, 25-question quiz by clicking here!   Those who take the on-line version receive immediate results and feedback upon completion.

The environmental quiz and an associated answer sheet are also available in the form of pdf files for download and printing, which also includes additional resources and historical quiz results since 1991.  Teachers and others who wish to arrange for classes or groups to take the quiz can request a personalized online tool that will provide individual and averaged results.  Contact Dovetail Partners for more information about using the Environmental Quiz with your group, by phone (612-333-0430) or email  (info@dovetailinc.org).

Eastern White Pine VS. Radiata Pine. Learn about these two species in a side by side comparison. Who will be victorious?

Founded in 1933, the Northeastern Lumber Manufacturer's Association (NELMA) is one of seven lumber rules writing agencies in the U.S. accredited by the American Lumber Standard Committee (ALSC) to write grade rules that are certified as conforming to the American Softwood Lumber Standard PS20.  NELMA is the official author and administrator of the grading rules for Eastern White Pine, in particular.

In addition to the quality control inspection audits we conduct at lumber manufacturers to ensure that on-grade Eastern White Pine products are meeting the needs of consumers, NELMA develops and distributes an array of technical information and unique promotional materials via our member-driven marketing program.  We encourage you to browse through the pages of this website and discover why Eastern White Pine is the very best choice when wood is considered, both environmentally sustainable and application versatile.
